2015 Writing Goals, Part 1

Edit: Ahahaha this schedule fell by the wayside during February. Leaving it here for posterity and to remind myself of how far I’ve come.

After neglecting my writing for the good chunk of a year, I ended 2014 on a high note with a finished draft! No more distractions, no more letting self-doubt stand in the way. My goals for 2015 are pretty simple: query my current MS and write a new one. Because I am me, I decided to write down my goals and planned out a writing schedule through June.

January:

  • Aurora out to betas
  • Brainstorm The Mage Queen

February

  • Revise Aurora based on beta comments

March

  • Send revised Aurora to beta
  • Draft The Mage Queen

April

  • Final read through and edit of current MS
  • Write query for Aurora
  • Send query to betas

May

  • Draft The Mage Queen
  • Prepare Aurora to query (revise query; formatting; pages; list of agents; etc.)

June

  • Start querying Aurora
  • Finish drafting The Mage Queen

So if all goes according to plan, I’ll be querying one MS and finishing a new draft in the same month. I’d like to finish revising the new MS by the end of the year, along with possibly rewriting my first novel.

Have I ever mentioned how much I love making plans and schedules?
